Socio-Cultural Activities

On Thursday, the scientific part will stop around 5:00 PM and all workshop participants are free to visit the nice city of Leuven until dinner time.

For those who are interested, optional activities are organized.

If you want to participate to one of these activities, please indicate so at registration.

Independently which activity is chosen, all workshop participants will join together afterwards for dinner in a nice down-town restaurant.

Participants registered for Museum M or the City Walking Tour will be guided to the start location or museum. Those registered for the sportive squash session will be driven to the squash venue by the organizers.

All workshop participants will meet together again at 19:30 at ‘t Oud Gasthuys for dinner.

Museum M

In 2004, the city of Leuven commissioned a new museum for its art collections. The new museum building (called Museum M) was designed by the famous Belgian architect Stéphane Beel. In his new design, Beel integrated two old and two new buildings in a highly successful way.
Groups of maximum 15 persons can join a 90 minutes guided visit through the art collection, visit the museum and appreciate the spectacular view over the city from the roof terrace.

cost: 20 euro / person

City Walking Tour option 2: Leuven in a Nutshell

For a first introduction to our city, this is the ideal walk. You will discover well-known monuments and attractions: the Grand Place with the Town Hall and the St. Peter’s Church, the University Hall, the university colleges and the pubs of the Old Market. But we also take you to small streets and alleys, parks and courtyard gardens and we tell you stories and anecdotes about the famous and less famous people who have left their mark on our town. Afterwards, you will understand why Leuven can still rightly call itself ‘the best city in Brabant’.   This tour is organized by Leuven+ and will take about 2 hours.  25 people/group

Cost: 10 euro
